Collections
The collections of the St. Clair County Historical Society span the entire history of the county and represent thousands of individual historical artifacts.
Our collections are housed in our two museums. Many of our artifacts are on permanent display in one of the museums or on temporary display as part of an special exhibit.
While our collections are as varied as the history of St. Clair County itself, they fall broadly into the following categories:
- Items directly related to the history of St. Clair County and its people. These items include documentary sources spanning the entire history of the county, its places and people from its foundation in 1790 to the present. This group of items also includes many items produced and created by people in St. Clair County.
- Historically significant artifacts unrelated to St. Clair County and its people. Our collection also hosts a representative sample of American material culture from the mid nineteenth through the early twentieth century.
